Is the term healthy coffee an oxymoron? While this beverage is one of the most popular ones in the world, you might be surprised at the various healthy substances that it contains. So before choosing your next beverage, consider some of the good stuff contained in coffee:
1. Acetylmethylcarbinol
See if you can repeat this word 10 times, without goofing up. Acetylmethylcarbinol is what gives coffee its full, buttery flavor. In fact, it's also what gives (real) butter its taste.
2. 2-Ethylphenol
What are ethyl's and phenol's? A phenol is a compound that is chemically active, and is found throughout nature-and particularly in plants such as those producing coffee beans. Clinical studies have shown that certain phenols have characteristics that can be beneficial to one's health. Meanwhile, ethyl is a compound that contains two atoms of carbon and five atoms of hydrogen.
3. Caffeine
You might want to think twice before choosing a cup of decaf. Caffeine often has bad connotations, because it creates images of jittery people who drank half a kettle of coffee-and are practically bouncing off the walls.
But it turns out that caffeine can actually be one of the substances in a piping-hot cup of healthy coffee. According to clinical studies, caffeine has several benefits. It can improve your physical and mental performance. Caffeine also boosts your metabolism, which is a big plus if you want to lose weight. Furthermore, it turns out that caffeine may also help to reduce the symptoms of conditions such as headaches, and the risks of diseases such as Parkinson's disease. Of course, the key is to drink your caffeinated coffee in moderation.
4. Dicaffeoylquinic Acid
OK, this acid has a fancy name. But the bottom line is that it's good for your health. When scientists zap neurons with this acid, the cells are majorly protected from damage caused by free-radicals. Since Dicaffeoylquinic Acid functions as an antioxidant, that's definitely a good thing!
5. Niacin
Also known as Vitamin B3, this is something that you should have in your daily diet. In fact, two or three cups of coffee can provide about 50% of the Daily Recommended Allowance.
6. Quinic Acid
If you've ever wondered what makes coffee taste a little sour, it's Quinic Acid. However, it's also important to note the healthy benefits of Quinic Acid. In fact, it's used for a variety of different types of medications, such as those used to treat strains of influenza A and influenza B. Something that's used to battle nasty flu bugs must be a good thing, right?
It turns out that coffee isn't as unhealthy as the mass media often advertises it to be. In fact, a cup of java can actually be good for you!

I just wonder if this is also available in the mall? This is a good feeling of having coffee and knowing that you are still healthy while enjoying the taste of the coffee. Im a coffee drinker and this is a nice idea of a coffee to offer health benefits as well.

i drink both coffee and tea, a cup of coffee in the morning and tea mid day :) I love both of them and I am glad for the healthy benefits of drinking them in moderation
I love coffee more now that I read this post. Thank you.
I'm not a big fan of coffee, but I do drink a cup occasionally specially if I need to stay up all night to finish some work.
It is always nice to learn new information on the things we drink or eat everyday.
There plenty of good things that we can get from drinking coffee. Personally, I don't drink coffee unless there's no milk or chocolate in the cupboard. I often get dizzy when drinking coffee. - lencilicious
I love coffee although it doesn’t help in keeping me awake. LOL. It helps in digestion (On my case), and I’ve learned that it’s an antioxidant. ^_^
My morning won't be complete if I cannot sip a cup of coffee. I only drink one cup to get me going for the rest of the day :-)

I agree with the studies done about caffeine, it really ups your energy and wits. Bad lang for too much of caffeine intake is bad.
Amazing! Everything in the nature, indeed, has benefits, because The Creator designed them to be good for the human beings. Interesting post!

I am so glad that coffee has many healthy substances. Although I am not familiar with them, aside from caffeine, I still like to indulge in it, but not too much of course.
